From a November 2005 press release:

"For the demilitarization of the territory and of civil life 3,000 women headed for Quibdo, against fear and indifference.

The women of Ruta Pacifica, in solidarity with the Afro-Colombian women and the indigenous women of Choco, wish to denounce the effects of the armed conflict on their lives and bodies, declaring in unison: THE BODIES OF WOMEN ARE NOT BOOTY OF WAR.

As a women's movement, we denounce the violations of the rights to life, freedom of expression, assembly and participation of which the children, young girls and adult women, leaders of communities seeking self-determination, humanitarian zones and community councils in Choco have also been victims.

We want to express our appreciation to those of you who supported us and accompanied us in solidarity on our National Mobilization of Women to Choco, and to those of you in Colombia and other parts of the world who sent us your letters, your communiques, your messages of strength and vitality, so that we could get to Quibdo Choco and embrace the indigenous women and the Afro-Colombian women who live in this territory of resistance. On 25 November 2005, the footsteps of approximately 3,000 women left their imprint on the national highways and the streets of Quibdo. Our voice joined the echoes from Rio Atrato to declare once again:

NEITHER WAR THAT DESTROYS US NOR PEACE THAT OPPRESSES."

Thank you for visiting, Contact us with any questions.

“You ask me if I believe we can change the world by our actions:

"No AND Yes" is my answer.

No: I do have that much sense of reality to know that our silent vigils will not mean that we will wake up in a better world tomorrow. The road to this world with justice and peace is long, the tree has many deep roots and we are only one link on that road, one of many roots of the tree.

And so I actually come to the positive part of my answer,

yes we are a root of the tree, nothing more, but also nothing less...

Moreover women living in conflict areas tell us that they feel themselves very supported by those many solidarity actions worldwide, they tell us that this makes a real difference to them. They feel supported by us, and we feel ourselves reinforced by their unbelievable courage and good energy. It seems like mutual empowerment.”
